Let's talk about Freedom of Speech, Elon Musk and Twitter
I come from a country where freedom of speech is in short supply.
You can disappear, or forced disappearances can happen. So it's costly to speak the truth. It makes us pretty little liars.
What does it do to our spines? Bends and breaks them I suppose. That's what happens without the freedom to express.
Please try to understand what Elon Musk is trying to do before you talk bullshit about it. He wants to make the codes behind Twitter visible so when rumours spread, you can find out where it spread from. So you know at least why your voice didn't matter!
And if the rumour bot had something to do with it. In a study by MIT they found out in Twitter fake news spreads more than real news. Who are you telling me that is not a problem?
Do you know Facebook, Twitter has caused the destruction of our democracies, made us populist pricks, BREXIT, the election of Modi, the election of Trump, Bolsenaro all the populist leaders. Heck, Facebook caused genocide in Myanmar! Social media needs fixing it is a failed system that tried to connect us and ended up disconnecting us for good.
Disconnecting and distancing us, creating echo chambers where we heard ourselves louder while silencing any real connection with the world. Our reality…
