Know The Why Then The What
The problem today is our social interaction has become a public place, where people can come and take our vulnerability and advertise us their products, policies and political biases.
Hence we have to know why they are doing this, and though this sounds like a black hole of conspiracy, where oh so this guy did this, so I cannot trust this comes from. And it does give us a more idealistic approach of life where we are all being inspired by personality cults. For example, Modi is a yogi? haha no of course not, doesn't matter if he meditated in the hills for two hundred years, he is not. But his personality exists. And his personality is curated to look like he is, that is PR.
MY RANT ON THAT:
Personality Reality(PR) is something we should be aware of and although it is becoming harder and harder to find reality in the shadow of fake news. We must try to find the source and then look at the biases and then trust the news.
Here is how big social media companies can help. First of all, it can have a label and warning on what kind of philosophy it talks about. So for example talks about warning Modi far right-extremist policies. Or this website is supported by tobacco companies.
Tags such as these can help us filter out information and that is how disinformation can be fought off. While we feel its a big task we can definitely get AI to do it for us. We can basically scan billions of accounts on the internet and sweep it for misinformation with AI.
CONCLUSION:
For now, we have to make sure we know the source before we believe it.
The source is as important if not more than the information these days. So look up the sources. Look at the biases and then believe everything with a pinch of salt.
