2024: Writing, Parenthood, Academia, and Ethical Evolution

In the last few days or weeks, I’ve been busy reading up on things, particularly focusing on what I want to prioritize in 2024. One of my primary goals is to delve deeper into journalistic pieces, concentrating on writing about technology, the environment, and global politics. Alongside this, I plan to incorporate more storytelling into my work, as it’s an aspect of writing that I genuinely enjoy. This year, I aim to fine-tune my storytelling skills and deliver more compelling narratives.

Interestingly, a significant portion of my income has come from entertaining people with — you guessed it — stories. I have exciting plans for more short stories, and the much-anticipated book is indeed in progress, despite a couple of promises made earlier. The creative process is ongoing, and I assure you it’s in the oven, so to speak.

On a personal note, a notable highlight of 2024 will be witnessing the growth of Maya, who celebrated another birthday recently. Today, she took her first steps, making the upcoming year full of anticipation for the milestones she’ll achieve. Maybe she’ll even earn a PhD before me — who knows?

Simultaneously, I find myself considering academic pursuits. Fueled by a hint of FOMO, I’m contemplating applying for a PhD. The allure of restarting an academic journey, especially…
